National Park Trips Media Wins First-Place for Website Rebranding

On March 21, 2019, National Park Trips Media received the highest honor in the online publishing industry by winning a first-place award at the prestigious The Folio: Digital Awards in New York City.

The annual awards spotlight the people, products, platforms and strategies transforming the digital landscape in the publishing community. Surrounded by digital teams and innovative minds in the publishing community, National Park Trips Media staff won first place in the 2019 Campaign/Product Awards Categories Winner for Website Redesign/Relaunch. The team won for its work in rebranding MyRockyMountainPark.com to MyColoradoParks.com. It shared first place with Slate Magazine, which won for its 2018 rebranding of its online magazine.

To rebrand the site, staff did a complete review of the site to improve content for users and search engine optimization, categories were updated and shallow articles were eliminated. The results were worth it: Website sessions increased 80 percent year-over-year, visitors increased 80 percent and page views increased 64 percent. Even advertisers from remote locations saw an increase in traffic to sponsored stories. The relaunch most notably resulted in new advertising from within Colorado and from bordering states.

“Our incredible digital producer Gloria Wadzinski spearheaded this critical data-driven rebranding effort to help thousands of national park travelers discover Colorado’s four breathtaking national parks and the amazing towns and attractions along the way,” says Tori Peglar, co-brand and content director. “We look forward to building on its success.”

MyColoradoParks.com is one of eight national park-related websites run by National Park Trips Media based in Boulder, Colo.
